The
Louisiana Association of Family and Consumer Sciences is an organization
of professional and student members dedicated to serve as a strong
source and voice for the field of family and consumer sciences and for
families in the state, nation, and globe.
The purpose
of the organization has been to further education and science in the
field of family and consumer sciences. Specific areas of focus have been
identified as follows:
To improve and strengthen education;
To establish and improve standards of service and scientific research;
To sponsor and support professional discussion;
To state and communicate professional guidance in public policy;
To identify and study social, economic, and psychological changes that
impact the profession;
To encourage and promote pertinent facts involving legislation that
impacts the profession and families;
To promote and participate in cooperative professional activities
related to the concerns of the profession and the interests of the
public.
